Current Events Grading Rubric

Guidelines:
  • Obtain an article (dated within the past month): may be a magazine, newspaper, web-article.
  • Write a response to the article as follows:
    • First Paragraph: Describe the main ideas of the article, who it was written by, where the article came from.
    • Second Paragraph: In your own words, summarize the three main ideas of the article.
    • Third Paragraph: Explain how this article connects to your class. Also in this section, explain the validity/reliability of the source from which the article was obtained.
    • This rubric and a copy of your article must be given to your teacher no later than the due date for the assignment

Writer makes very few errors in grammar or spelling. Most sentences are well-constructed.
Writer makes some major errors in grammar or spelling. Some sentences may not be well-constructed
Writer makes many errors in grammar or spelling. Sentences lack structure and appear incomplete or are confusing.
